We've never met a house before that made us want to turn around and paint our own more than these inspirational pics. We're not kidding. We have leftover paint from previous painting projects and were seriously considering it yesterday (but then life happened--sigh). We've included more of Rachel Singleton's bold stripes after the jump.

Apparently Rachel love's her stripes too. Rachel can be found at her own blog called
Pencil Shavings (and there are some before pics of her space as well).
Her walls were already painted "Blonde" when they decided to take an old paint can to Lowe's where they could match the paint (and then tone it down 25%) for the alternating stripe color. They also made the new and improved "Blonde" paint a semi-gloss, so the stripes could really standout.

For a more calming and cohesive look (at least when it comes to stripes) Rachel painted an odd number of stripes (7 total).

Because the stripes are painted horizontally, the space seems to expand while taking you through to the next space.

The stripe theme continues through to the kitchen with these shiny striped curtains around the breakfast table window.

If you try this, pick up some Frog Tape from the hardware store. It's painters tape with a better bond so you get very little bleeding along your tape lines. Good for the textured walls so common in the west and in new construction!
