Inspiration: Royaltygirl's Closet
Plus Her Tip To Keep It Organized

011409closet-02.jpgWe admit, royaltygirl has a bigger closet than most. And one would thing it would be easier for her to keep it organized--right?! But sometimes, the bigger the space, the harder it is to keep your belongings manageable. There are more items to tend to and sometimes that can be overwhelming. Lucky for us, royaltygirl has a great organizing tip and a streamlined closet to prove it.

Royaltygirl took a decorative sheet of wrapping paper and hung it behind her shoe rack.

011409closet-01.jpgShe tells us that this area is the first zone you see when you walk into the closet (and that looking at all the clothes at once used to be overwhelming). So she decided to make her large walk-in closet a pretend store (and decorated accordingly). She even made a sign for her pretend store--Sandee Royalty. By using a pillow to showcase all of her pins, royaltygirl can now see what she owns. This area is kept fun and store-like by bins that are labeled in a flirty font. With organizing, you want to keep it fun and easy (so you'll want to return items back where they belong).

Color coordinated containers for her husbands belongings make the area cohesive and organized--well done!

I admire the organization... and covet the space! But the retail hanger... blech. Invest in wood or somethin, girl!

Very organized, nice... whatever.
Who cares! Where did that leopard coat come from?

her blouse hangers look like those flocked huggie hangers. the skirt hangers are likely a necessary evil!

I agree, the hangers need to change. I keep the nice wooden ones in our entry/coat closet, and white plastic ones in the bedroom closet. They are about $2.00 for 10 at Target.

Seriously, the coat... I must have it.

I kinda think the retail hangers work with her idea.

The retail hangers work with her store idea, I actually like them. Wood hangers might be too bulky there.

Where did all the boxes come from, and how are the brown ones labelled? They look adorable.

Thanks for your comments! The green boxes are from office max, a great deal 10 for $17. They really helped me unify the space. I have a cricut cutter machine that I used to cut vinyl letters for my storage boxes.

I do have nice hangers on my blouses and dresses, I didn't even think of getting something else for the skirts. I will have to do it now that it is in my head... My husband has the yucky hangers, he refuses to change. I love him anyway!

The leopard coat was my great-grandmother's from the 60's. I don't get to wear it much in Texas but I like to look at it!

Shortly after moving into my boyfriend's apartment I decided to clean his closet for him. Which also happened to be a utility storage area (i.e., vaccuum, snowboard and shoes, guitar, etc.) Once I properly redistributed all the "stuff" to other closets in the apt. and organized the clothes, with new matching wooden hangers, he was thrilled. Now every other week or so on laundry day, he gets all girly and goes through and straightens and refolds all of his clothes. His closet is neater than my dresser and bureau... I've created a monster!

i am still organizing the dressing room in my house. it is a bedroom that is only 6 feet wide and is so small that my realtor walked past it the first time we saw the place thinking it was indeed a closet.

the house has 4 tiny closets in total.

thanks for the ideas! i am still looking for shelving to go above my Extend-It Closet System.
