Inspiration: The Organized Shower

I had never thought of installing a towel rack inside the tub/shower enclosure, but it makes perfect sense.

I now know what I need to get this weekend...

Please tell us where to find that towel rack. It is exactly what I have been looking for.

How do you drill holes in the tile to hang to rack?

but won't those towels get wet or mildewy because of its nearness to the spray?

How do you drill holes in the tile to hang to rack?

See:

Summary:
Use a carbide-tipped masonry bit and some masking tape.

It's easy. I've done it before.

"but won't those towels get wet or mildewy because of its nearness to the spray?"

Wet?

If they're at the end of the tub or large-ish shower opposite the showerhead, and the spray isn't directed at them, no.

Mildewy?

One wouldn't keeping dozens of towels there for centuries - just 2-3 fresh towels until they're used and on hooks/towel bars elsewhere in the bathroom airing out until laundry day.

I had a towel rack in the shower in my old place. It was standard size so by the time the water stream reached the back of the shower stall, the arc hit at the level of the grout line where the tile hits the tub. So unless you have an abnormally small shower, you shouldn't have but an occassional splash, unless you're one of those "swoshing-swirling hair" people when you wash your hair (you know the type - the ones used in those Herbal Essence commercials).

just to throw it out there, ikea has a similar set to what is set up here. not as shiny or thin, but likely cheaper.

it's not online, but its a staple (kitchen supplies), called GRUNDTAL. we have 2 in our kitchen that hold pots & pans & lids. they do the job impressively - i'm sure that it wouldn't be a problem to hold towels and whatever else you throw at it.

try the grundtal from ikea. it looks much like this. you can get them on ebay as well.

also, how many scrubbers do you need, buddy? :P nah, but it looks nice.

A lot of hotels have this sort of setup in the shower.

I've always found myself worrying about the towels getting wet. Also, even the most beautiful racks are eyesores if they're in a place where there would normally be smooth cool tile instead.

I don't like to keep towels inside the shower, they get wet. And I use just shampoo and soap to wash my self. But I have a chair inside the shower, where I can relax!
