Kitchen Mix: Something Old, Something New

091708_kitchen.jpgAt first glance, this kitchen/dining room may look like any sleek, modern space done up in a blinding white with all the expected modern fixtures. But don't write this off just yet: take a closer look and it's a mish-mash of styles and elements that make this space wonderfully quirky...

French cafe chairs with faux-fur seat covers, a vintage cabinet painted in robin's egg blue, and quaint paneling that creates a shelf for folksy art. And of course, there are the modern touches: the sleek island and counters, some of the light fixtures. So what makes this work? We're thinking it's all the white! What do you think?

I love those chairs...similar to a pottery barn design that I adore

Yes, all of the white and two choice accent colors. The very thoughtful groupings of objects and the lovely garden view also help. Bonus: this looks like a working kitchen with some appliances actually on the countertops! The vacant kitchen counters in Dwell magazine spreads always sort of annoy me.

Gorgeous gorgeous gorgeous. Both elegant and with a heartbeat. No kitchen is more perfect than this.

Love the floor and the sleek cabinets but those faux-fur Ikea throws/seat covers/rugs are killing me.

the massive amounts of gorgeous sunlight don't hurt either.

The fur throws on the chairs look odd to me. The rest of the room is beautiful though.
