One great way to add texture and oomph to a blah room is to add a pattern in the pillows, rugs and artwork. If you own or have a great relationship with the landlord you could even get away with wallpapering just one accent wall. Check out the vintage paper that Marcela found:
We found images of Marcela's great 70's era wallpaper in the LA Flickr pool and loved how she used the wallpaper on one wall to create an accent. With the other elements in the room the wallpaper doesn't take over or make it look granny. Marcela found this great 70's era wallpaper and covered just one wall of her home. Read more about her wallpapering adventure on her blog (it's in Spanish) Deco Marce.

That wallpaper is horrendous. But those floors-- MARVELOUS!
The bold, graphic floors are enough pattern for that hallway. The wallpaper clashes with everything.

I agree, that floor is the star, that wallpaper is doing nothing for anything.

I have a huge love affair with vintage wallpaper. I started my lampshade business making shades with vintage wallpaper. I still use it today. The patterns and colors are nothing like today's paper. They seem to be hand painted.
Great post.

I think it's a neat idea but that doesn't work at all with those amazing floors and colours. It almost dulls the hallway down even more.
I'd put a piece of art or a sculpture there instead.

Everything about that wallpaper is terrible. It looks like she tried to gift-wrap the wall without her glasses on.
Also, 4 uses of the word "great" in a single post?
