Melissa's Green Hydrangeas

061009hydrangea-01.jpgGrowing up, our favorite flowers happened to be hydrangeas. We had a huge hydrangea bush in our backyard and the huge puffs of blue and purple always seemed playful to us. While we are used to seeing hydrangeas of the pink and blue variety, they turn a charming green if dried correctly...

061009hydrangea-03.jpgDried hydrangeas make a great centerpiece in a ceramic white bowl (and the antique looking wood table adds rustic charm). Evidently, drying hydrangeas is an art form so if you need a little guidance, check out this great article.

DIY your own wreath for the mantlepiece or front door using dried hydrangeas.

061009hydrangea-02.jpgUsing a similar shade of green as the hydrangeas, Melissa lines drawers with attractive paper.

061009hydrangea-05.jpgCould this school chair be any more charming? Weather beaten (but lust-worthy) the simple chair pairs great with the light colored green wall.

Gorgeous, all of it - nice to see a red and green combo that doesn't read as "Christmas". That red cupboard is fabulous!

very very pretty---I love the school chair so much. I wouldn't mind spending "time out" there at all.

Forget the hydrangeas; let's talk about those lovely pumpkins! It's nice to see them in a non-autumnal context.

Just out of curiosity, are hydrangeas in French enamelware pitchers considered a cliche yet?

Don't get mad at me for asking - it's just that I never seem to see them displayed any other way.

And yes, I too display my cut hydrangeas in a French enamelware pitcher that I paid a small fortune for. ;->

In a French context they are called 'hortensias'. Either way beautiful, they last so long and are great dried.

Aha! Green ones seem to be a southern vs. northern phenomena! I always wondered why I seldom see them in New England except in photos. (I love the color!) My last attempt to grow hydrangeas fell flat, but I may try again.

Elizabeth B - It's actually "Magic Cover" brand contact paper. Lots of places have it; I believe I saw it at Target recently.
