What kind of paint should be used?

Anne, you can use regular old wall paint, but you'll want to get the radiator as clean from dust/dirt/flaking paint as possible beforehand. Also, give it a coat of really good primer (like BIN or Zinsser 123) before you start painting with color.

I'd think you'd need to do it in the summer or something, though, whenever the radiators are completely off, or you might start a fire or something otherwise unpleasant, like having the paint behave very strangely.
