Praise for Purple: When Colors Have Heat

aubergine 1 copy.jpgSince we are talking about color this month, we thought we'd take a look at some "stylish Colors". In this month's Elledecor , their Trend alert is about purple. More specifically plum.

This bold color is a great alternative to dark brown, and looks great with other rich tones. For those of us transplants who feel off- balance without a real seasonal change, the rich aubergines can make us feel all warm inside, like pulling out the nubby sweaters, and switching back from iced coffee to hot.

But what do we do when it goes out of style?

My sofa is this colour. It's not really hard to live with, especially after throwing out the "decorative" tapestry throw pillows that came with it. It works well with lighter purples, lighter shades in the brown family (beiges and creams, maybe golds), with various shades of green, and even with a certain shade of grey silk. We have dark olive green velvet curtains in the same room.
