Put a Pin In It: Cork Walls

081607_cork1.jpg
I went to the Dresden last night for the first time in about 2 years. Not much has changed, except maybe it's become a wee bit more touristy (although you'd think the Swingers hype has died down, it's been more than a decade after all). But I have to say: I love the interior of the bar space. The curvy bar in the middle, the lanterns dripping from the ceiling, and the best part? The dark cork walls. (Actually, the real best part is Marty and Elayne).

However, I was not such a big fan of this domino set up..although I get the white chairs to offset the dark color of the cork, it feels a bit misplaced. Thoughts?

The lighting needs a pick-me-up.

Give me modern, give me stark white, give me Nelson - give me ANYthing other than that chandelier. Granted, I'm sure it works somewhere - but it definitely doesn't help this setting pop at ALL.

Cork walls? Marcel Proust did it so much better.

I *heart* Marty & Elayne... But I also *heart* the dining room side of The Dresden. Not THAT's one swank interior!

Your cork tiles just aren't complete without an intervening pattern of mirror tiles.
