Our last day for escapes before the big Labor day weekend and then on to September and a month of adornment! While there's still time I had to mention that last year a bunch of us got together and spent a week on a houseboat on Lake Powell. It was incredible. All the amenities of home, all the beauty of nature.
Don't get me wrong I like to rough it too, but wow we had bbq's, we slept in beds (some people slept underneath the stars on the upper deck and some slept on the beaches of the lake) and during the day we built sand slides into the water. I even took one shower.
As you can probably tell, I am a sucker for red rocks and the southwest landscape. It's so beautiful and foreign. The red of the rocks, the blue of the water, it was paradise. I only wish that they made mod houseboats. The one we were in was straight out of 1985 with flowered bedspreads, rattan furniture, and of-the-era 'art' (oh and dark green carpet, in a houseboat!).
How many stayed on the boat? I've been wanting to take this sort of trip for a while.

Caslab--there were about 11 of us! I think there were only 3 queen beds, a sofa bed and then everyone else slept outside!
