We're still puzzled on how to use hot pink in our homes. On one hand, it's bold and crazy (and we admit that we loved Reese Witherspoon's hot pink Womb chair in Legally Blonde)...

...On the other hand, it seems like it could be garish, over-the-top, and hard match without going overboard (like Reese Witherspoons' entire dorm room in Legally Blonde). But then we spied this living room, courtesy of Domino's reader contest. (This entry is from finalist Steven from Des Moines).
Frankly, we're impressed by the sheer explosion of colors without being blown out. Hot pink footstools, lime green vases, all pulled together on an orange sofa? Talk about fearless. And it works!
P.S. We love those oversized lamps.
I think it works here because everything is grounded by the browns of the walls and woodtones here and there. I voted for this space myself.

Pink, orange and green are used in equal intensity, that keeps it sane. Purple side table and candlesticks is right in there too.
It's the full commitment to bold color that makes the room rock.

one of my absolute favorite images i've found recently is Betsey Johnson's dining room: bright pink with rich yellow Platner chairs...

LOVE IT!

I have hot pink vinyl chairs to match my 1950s formica kitchen table. They are wonderfully whimsical, but not overwhelming. I love them.

Good call, Lady J. You articulated what I was thinking.
Call me crazy, but I prefer hot pink over the ubiquitous bright red. It's just more interesting to me, and it recalls India, which I love.

sorry it doesn't work for me. looks a bit like an over-propped set. or a home-deco store.

My goodness, there's a lot going on there.

the easiest way to do hot pink is to mix it with colors on one side of the color spectrum (analogous). i have a hot pink chair and hot pink and orange pillows and yellow walls and an orange throw & brown couches and most people's reaction when they come in is that it's very calm and relaxing.
