I love the sound of leaves blowing around in the street on a quiet late Fall Sunday. I also love that smoky smell (I know it isn't a sound!) that gets into the air around Halloween.

The sound of dry leaves scooting along the ground in a crisp breeze.

The patter of the first raindrops since the previous spring. (So. CA.)

I love the WHOOSH sound of my 1950s wall heater as it lights up. Popcorn popping on the stovetop. Branches of the trees brushing up against the windows during the Santa Ana winds. This post made me feel so nostalgic! Can't wait for fall!

I'm with dharmabum and LilyC, and am also especially fond of the crisp, smoky smell of autumn.

i've lived in LA most of my life, save the one year after college i went to live in NYC- and no where has there ever been a place so silent as a snowy night in a brooklyn courtyard. i'd never been in snow and never realized how quiet it is. you feel it on your skin- feel it melt as it touches the small patches of skin left exposed- and it is completely and intensely silent. so lovely.

but i do love LA in the winter! well, the LA winter. the smell of rain in the grass- the "gettin cozy" on the couch. but the sounds? i love the sound of little feet and voices as they approach my door for candy. the excitement of who gets to open the door! the "oh awesome" as they check out our candy choices :) and just the over all sound of winter- the christmas carols on the radio, the laughter of friends on New Years Eve, the prayers over the Hanukkah candles and the sound of latkes frying in the pan. OH HOW I LOVE WINTER! get here quick!!

Nothing better than a summer day....I don't like that hollow silence...specially on a Sunday...flip floping all year 'round is what life is all about~ surfer girl

I love the sound of a raging thunder storm (not a hurricane, mind you). And on dry days, the sound of dried up leaves crunching underfoot. I step on them on purpose to hear the crackle.

Oh, and kitties purring up close under the duvet with me.

The spit and hissing of a fire.

And doorbell ringing when UPS delivers a package!! :-)

The roar of a football stadium!

I love Autumn! My favorite sounds of Fall include:
- raindrops
- the creak of my oven when it opens
- night owls
- when that first chill in the air starts blowing at night

fallen leaves crunching under my feet

The sound of the wooden spoon against the large bowl while I make pumpkin pie filling...

crackling fires, geese flying south overhead, university bells in the belltowers, coats coming off the hangers, slippers on the floor, leaves on the ground swirling and walking through piles of them, acorns falling on the ground from tall oaks.

I'm on board with those who love the fireplace smell. It makes me want to curl up with a good book and some mulled cider.

I love the sound of the rustling of leaves.

I love the sound of the *fog horn*~
...and it's mournful autumn call
thickness saturating my oceanside neighbourhood
for storms of the seasons are coming my way...

Crunchy leaves! And let's not forget the wonderful smells: pumpkin pie and burning leaves (am I the only one who likes this smell!?).

The sound of car tires driving over wet pavement. (especially early in the morning when it has rained during the night)
