Wow. The holidays are...over? That sure went quickly. But now I feel squarely planted in the New Year, full of hope and promises to myself of what I'll do. And conveniently now that all my attention isn't going to baking and wrapping I have some more energy for some smaller projects I've been meaning to get to. Number one my list? Making pillows for my newly recovered Danish modern Sofa. That's my January Jumpstart project. Have you given some thought to what you'll do?

laure - what will you be stuffing the pillows with?

Oooh, I forgot that I need to make pillows too. And drapes for the living room and curtains for the dining room.
I think I need to give my January Jumpstart a jumpstart and make time to take a trip to Michael Levine to hunt for fabrics.

Pixie--
I'll either buy the preformed pillows at a place like Joanne's or Ikea has a really nice 20x20 inch pillow that I've used in the past. I've tried stuffing my own but they always end up really lumpy.

I think it is realy great to do such a thing. But I will not make the pillows by myself, that is too difficult for me. I would rather buy some at the website like overstock or dealstudio. Yeah, I think that is more convenient.

Not to be a spoil sport, but there are instructions on the Ready Made Magazine website to redo the cushions on a danish modern chair (one that I own actually and was going to redo myself). When you think about stuffing, pay careful attention to the stuffing that was used in the original cushions, which I'm betting is foam. You can even reuse the old foam and put a new or a light layer of batting over the top of it, to create the same clean lines that are on the original loveseat. And if you've never done any sewing before, I recommend trying to install a zipper on cheap muslin so that you make your mistakes on cheap fabric rather than your awesome new and possibly expensive fabric. Good luck, I can't wait to see what you do. I love that danish modern furniture!

For Christmas gifts (yes, I know they are REALLY late) I've been doing subversive cross stitch and then plan to make them into pillows. Well, my mom will make them into pillows cause the cross stitch is as craft as I get!
