Studying film in college, she was required to shoot slides for composition classes. She knew she'd never use the slides again but didn't want to toss them out with the trash either. Being the "super green" professional organizer that she is, she also wanted to recycle the slides into something reusable. To make it, Julie taped all the slides together and then glued them to an 8 inch plastic planter coaster. To make the piece functional, she picked up an inexpensive light fixture from IKEA that she poked through the coaster. A CFL light bulb completes this crafty and unique DIY.

I did something like this years ago. It was a larger, pendant-type lamp, with the slides held together with paperclips. I wish I had a photo of it!
