Our coffee cups in our small kitchen seem to either get stacked on top of each other or are dangerously close to falling off the shelf anytime we open the door. While we do try to keep them organized by placing the handles in the same direction, they seem to not want to stay that way. When we spotted this clever hook idea the other day, we thought this could be a great solution to our small space kitchen problem.

By simply screwing in a few hooks to the bottom of the shelf above, you can easily hang your cups in an organized manner. Of course space permitting in your own kitchen but we think this is a helpful tip to organize a space that can easily get cluttered with products. And this little DIY is a helpful reminder not to overlook any of your potential spaces for storage.

The rest of those shelves are so empty...
I prefer to simply stack my cups and saucers together - saucer on the bottom, then a cup, then a saucer, then a cup...

It's a great idea, but not quite new. That's why those hooks are called "cup hooks" and can be found at any hardware store. They also come with an extra piece of metal that goes across the hook and are used in boats to prevent the cups from coming off the hooks when the boat tips even a little bit. I must say that the white cups against that green look great.

Who would have thought that cup hooks could be used for hanging cups? Innovative

Sadly, not the most inventive of organizational posts.

I concur with the other posts -- they are called ;Cup Hooks' for a reason
Nevertheless, they really work well in this situation with the colored cabinets and glass doors (and it doesn't look 'empty', just well organized.)

We used these for a while but my husband tends to drop the cups and smash all of the dishes below... so we are looking for alternatives to cup hooks
anything new out there?

I'm so glad this photo was posted! I've been considering painting the insides of my cabinets turquoise or teal and now I see it can look great!
The hooks though, yeah, my grandmother had those, so again, not so groundbreaking.

Funny, I was watching a rerun of "Friends" last night and noticed cups on hooks in the cupboard and thought, "why do people use those?" I've always thought they looked terrible and are awkward to use.
I do love this site but sometimes the posts are a little, uh, *obvious*. This post is right up there with the novel tip of keeping the bathroom cleaning supplies in the bathroom so they're handy...

I've also heard that people are starting to keep plates in a plate rack.

Here are a few more kitchen organizational tips, though not specifically for cups:

I agree that those cabinet fronts are gorgeous. *longs for a new kitchen*

i think those are the prettiest kitchen cabinets i have ever seen, and i want to hug them.
FYI ya'll the threads on a cuphook arent very long and may not anchor well in many of our modern particle board kitchens.
Yes, if anyone has more info about the cabinets, share. I've never seen strained glass used to this type of effect.

And then of course, one could get rid of the extra cups. The photo looks nice because of the colors and the uniformity, but so many of us have those strange collections of mugs from old jobs, road trips, unfortunate presents, etc. There's no way to make those into a pretty presentation.
And ditto the "cup hooks" inanity.
