We love a rocking chair. There's something very meditative about its rhythmic movement that can wipe away the stresses of the day. President Kennedy's physican thought so too; the President was instructed to use one to relieve his back troubles and it soon became his favorite chair.
We found this version of the President's chair, now known as the Kennedy Rocker, at The L. A. Rocking Chair Store, located on the corner of 3rd Street and LaBrea Avenue. We think, with the addition of a pillow or ikea's ludde sheepskin, it would be a comfortable fit into a modern interior.

My mother rocked me in one of these. My folks still have it. Meanwhile, our family also has a Lincoln rocker, if you can possibly believe it. It's, walnut, or something. I'm not sure what made these be named after these guys, but it's a strange coincidence to have one of each of them.
