Last week's question from Jill about what to hang over her sofa got us thinking about a favorite DIY option, introduced to us by a co-worker. Walking by his office one morning, we noticed a stunning poster-sized photograph of trees in his office that compelled us to hang around his door like some kind of pathetic rock groupie, hoping to learn the artist's name. When he finally looked up from his desk, we stammered out the question and he spilled the secret...
It was his own photograph, which he had had blown up at Icon on Wilshire. The army green building across from the El Rey is where the pros go to have their photos processed. These guys know how to manipulate an image; they can saturate the colors, transform a color print to black and white, and perform any number of other miracles in taking a photograph from blah to ah. Email them a favorite photo or a scanned image and talk to one of the technicians about transforming it from so-so to stunning.

I drive past this building almost every day...I had no idea what it was because I had no reason to stop. Thanks for satisfying a long-held curiosity!

chiming in late--can't the original post include this sort of information? Is there any actual reporting on this site?

WOW! People... It's just a post! Meant to pass along a tid bit of info. It's not a documentary. Expensive or inexpensive, thorough or not. It. Is. Just. A. Post. Sheesh.
Thanks for the info. I will decide on my own whether or not to use it. I appreciate the information at least and having my options expanded.
