Today's LA Times Home & Garden section features the recently built home of architect Barbara Bestor. Bestor also is the author of the popular "Bohemian Modern" book which documents the eclectic mix of homes in the Silver Lake area. Her new home is situated directly across the famous Ennis House, by Frank Lloyd Wright...
Bestor purchased the Los Feliz home in 2005, and found a lot of inspiration from the landmark across the street. "'It looks so monumental," she says, 'but on the inside it's a fairly modest one-story house with secret gardens and a linear pool hidden from the street view.'"
The inside features a lot of fun details. We love the black and white illustrated tree that is behind the bed in the downstairs bedroom, and also love the use of Geoff McFettridge's quirky wallpapers.

Pitter patter goes my heart. The tree on the wall is awesome. And the whale wallpaper...works! And reminds me that whales kind of rule. I should think about whales more.
