Today's LA Times House and Garden feature story is an interesting round up of design trends in decor for 2008. It's titled "The Past is alive in 2008." They've broke it down to 4 main looks: "French neoclassic, Shanghai modern, Enchanted Forest, and Americana." What do you guys think of these trends? Do any of them inspire or suit your tastes? Do you think you might be incorporating any of them into your home? Read the article here and be sure to check out the slideshow.

I'm a big fan of the French neoclassic and Shanghai modern. I love having mix and match cultural elements in my home. I travel a lot as well, so i like gathering trinkets from around the world to decorate my house...

I liked the "Enchanted Forest" as I appreciate a sense of humor about a trend that's not going away soon. I like the modern organic look; it just so played out right now. I like some aspects of "Shanghai Modern" (anything black lacquer!) and agree with what was said about China in general. "Americana" was a little underdefined and strangely lacking character and "French Neoclassicism" is just not my taste. I'm waiting for "Amsterdam: Old is New" to make its way to the U.S.
