LA Times H&G 7.19.07- Cisco Pinedo's house

"So Cool, So Classic, So L.A." The feature story to today's LA Times House and Garden section is a great combo of the "American Dream" and gorgeous eye candy. The San Marino Home of Cisco Pinedo is a 1923 Spanish revival that is open and contemporary but filled with soul and character.

However, it's the back story that's a real inspiration. Cisco was born in a small village in Mexico, grew up in LA, worked for years at upholstery companies, and eventually stated his own business. Cisco's home furnishings company, Cisco Bros., is "one of the few major furniture manufacturers that hasn't fled Southern California in search of less expensive factories and labor overseas." Read the rest here. It's a great article (by Janet Eastman) and the home is stunning- Make sure to check out the slideshow and the tiling in the bathroom, made of petrified Indonesian wood!
