LA Times H&G: "Second Home Comes First?"

020907home.jpg

Yesterday's LA Times House & Garden featured an interesting story about Angelenos that work in the city and rent an apartment, but have chosen to buy/own a "second" home outside town in places such as Ojai, or Yucca Valley. For them, "...home is where you feel at home, rather than where you actually live during the week simply to be near your office..." Since a majority of AT:LA readers are renters, would you consider something like this? We'd love to hear your thoughts!
(read the piece here.)

actually this is what we've done. we rent a small 2 bedroom in law in San Francisco, and we recently bought a house (a log cabin, obviously!) in the Sierra Foothills. It's so wonderful living out in the country though that we might give up our place in the city. I'd actually say we live in the country and have a place in the city than the other way around.
