Despite Aaron Spelling forever cementing this style of architecture to the bedhopping hijinks Billy-Alison-Amanda-Sydney-Michael-etc, this style of courtyard apartment is iconic in L.A. and holds a romantic Old-Hollywood mystique for many here. A better filmic representation of L.A.'s love affair with the courtyard apartment can be found in 1997's "'Til There was You" (a romantic comedy with Dylan McDermott, Jeanne Tripplehorn, Jennifer Aniston, Sarah Jessica Parker), in which one storyline revolves around the efforts to save an old L.A. courtyard apartment (with some forgotten architectural pedigree) from demolition from property developers. [And, yes, there are romantic complications in this *mediocre* little movie, but no one gets bitch-slapped or ends up cat-fighting in a pool.]
