LA Times House & Garden Roundup 08.23.08
Los Angeles

atla-082308-lat01.jpgThis month, it's all been about escaping. Moving is the biggest escape of them all. What about moving a whole house? If you've been out cavorting recently, you might have seen one, traveling along Sunset Boulevard. This week's Los Angeles Times Home and Garden feature story spotlights the journey that culminated in Richard Neutra's Maxwell House, one of his few wooden and pitched roof homes, making its way by truck from its Brentwood birthplace to its new home in Angelino Heights. Be sure to check out the slide show. Other articles of interest include a story on how Gloria Swanson's legacy and furnishings influenced the decor of her granddaughter's Modernist Gregory Ain home; a tour of the Porsche designed kitchen, built by Poggenpohl, which exhibits all the sleek styling and up-to-the minute features you'd expect; a look at items for the office, for those of you who still get that back to school itching for supplies at this time of year; Anna Goeser shares her steps for creating miniature dioramas using succulents, and more. Whoa... what time was that picture taken? It doesn't look like there was much traffic on Sunset that day.

yes, Brookjoy, I watched the maddness unfold! I was out at an ungodly 6am that Saturday morning, heading to Home Depot so I could claim all the sod they have delivered each AM....I happened upon the stuck house just as police had arrived and were starting to block lanes. there was no traffic at that point, but when I was driving home an hour later, it was a total parking lot. insane!!

also, is the Neutra house moving from Angelino Heights to Brentwood or vice versa? cause it says both in this post...
