This week's LA Times Home section is like reading a back- issue from 2004...so last year. Is AT just ahead of the curve are do a lot of these stories feel dated to you, too? Here it goes:

- High design with mass appeal - Loads of celebrity home designers are Attempting to bring their good design to the masses.

- THE SCOUT - Mirror images: Both high end and not, Mirrored furniture is everywhere. (We've used this Z-Gallery piece as a "cheap cheat" with great results.)

- THE SCOUT - Sparkling personality: West Elm's affordable barware with bling, just in time for holiday parties.

- THE SCOUT A new website to get great Italian design without the long wait and high price tag: http://www.europebynet.com
- Man of the House - Where in the world is Mom?
- Wreaths to ring in the season - Aside from the annoying premise that you can trick your wife into thinking you are helping out, here are some helpful hints on putting together a holiday wreath.

- Frugal and fabulous - Some good (if not obvious) ways to spruce up dull decor.
- Maybe a tweak is all you need - The Times telling us what we already know: The new (new?!) trend in having someone come in help you work with what you've got]instead of a complete interior design redo.
- A desert home that comes first - The lovely and hysterical Beth Lapides talks about her inspiring decision to move to Palm Springsbuying the second home first.

Finally! A West Elm retail outlet in L.A.! (That new line of barware is sexy.)
Dear GOD, I am tired of Karim Rashid riding the Oh chair wave!
And agree with Enrique (as usual!)... loving that West Elm barware.
Patrick... Wouldn't it be fun if West Elm would let you etch words (dirty, inappropriate or otherwise) on that barware instead of just monagramming? If that was an option, I'd definitely buy a dozen for my holiday parties. Words like "Drunk", "Slut", "Easy", "Sexy", etc seem much more fun for a holiday party than the standard "Cheers". (Just a thought.)
Enrique - I think I've seen the "word" barware line you are suggesting but for the life of me I cannot remember where (something along the line of unemployed philosophers guild or similar). Hmmm... maybe I was using said barware at the time and that's why the memory is so fuzzy now....
Libby... I think the appeal of having inappropriate words etched on this particular line is so strong for me because every piece is so "classy" and aspirational-looking. I think it would make an already beautiful line of barware look even more interesting... more a conversation-starter.
PS The Olympia blend you sent over is so smooth! I love it and can't wait to try the other blend. Thank you again.
I love that barware too, but why does it have to have anything on it...Don't want "W" or is it "M!!"
