One of my "to do's" before I die is to see the natural magic known as fireflies. My Texan girlfriend is surprised we don’t have the magical winged illuminators here in the Southland, but now I could tide my lifetime wish with one of these Miyazaki-like Firefly Lamps being sold on Etsy. We especially like the small on/off switch detail and the hidden batteries. Available in both quart and pint size wide-mouth jars for $25.

Growing up in the northeast, I guess I always took those fireflies for granted. Even now when I take a break from LA to visit home in the summer, I'm surprised every time by their appearance at dusk. Unfortunately, it also coincides with prime mosquito hour! I hope you get to see it some day - and not just this cool jar version.
