Fluorescent Fixer Lighting Cover Warms Up CFL Bulb Light

010809CFLDiffuser01.jpgWe just mentioned yesterday about how horribly jarring LED sourced lighting can be compared to warm incandescents, one of the major reasons cited why some people still haven't moved to more energy efficient lighting (knowing what colour temperature makes a HUGE difference). Here's an aftermarket solution to warm up and diffuse the colour/light put out by CFL bulbs if you've got a cold bulb or two you don't want to throw out...

010809CFLDiffuser02.jpgThe plastic 4 1/2" diameter Fluorescent Fixer diffuses a CFL spiral in a 5" or larger diameter lamp or fixture; thanks to CFL bulbs cool operating temperatures, these can be installed safely with an anchor clip, and come in an assortment of colours and designs. A bit pricey at $19.99 for a pack of three, but perhaps not if they truly do help improve interior lighting (thus, your mood).

I've been holding off on putting CFLs in my bedroom because I hate how cold they make things look, so this is a great find. Turns out that Walgreens sells them in two sizes at $9.99 for a set of 3, available through the Web site and eligible for free shipping if you spend $50 or more.

Any "filter" that's applied works by blocking a certain part of the spectrum, so you are, effectively, blocking some of the light that's being emitted. Your light may be more pleasant, but it will also be dimmer and require higher wattage for the same amount of lumens.
