While attempting to find some gift bows, we nearly knocked ourselves out with a heavy box packed with junk from our youth. Which got us distracted because we just had to open it and sort through all kinds of stuff. Like a trophy we got for...perfect attendance? A book report on Where the Red Fern Grows? Why we kept this stuff, we don't know. But we did find one fantastic treasure: our very old Luxo L1 lamp.
We'd forgotten how great the design of this lamp was--and still is. After swapping out our tired banker's lamp in our office, this retro Luxo fits perfectly into our decor. It takes up less desk space with the clamp, and provides great task lighting. And we've already begun sticking reminder notes on the arms with magnets...
Now we're thinking about maybe getting another for the workshop area, maybe in chrome..? We've seen some Luxo lamps on eBay and Craigslist; but if anyone has any other resources for great retro lamps, please share!

This is the classic Luxo LI task lamp. Luxo still makes them - hit their sidebar's drop down menu for 'Classic Task Lights'.
I grew up with a red one that I could kick myself for giving away.....

I used mine at work for almost twenty years before it gave up the ghost. I have a nice new one with a chrome finish and expect it to see me through to retirement!
