Metalarte Funghi Collection

Our friends at ATLA Chicago just posted about the trend of peacock motifs sweeping back into the world of interiors, textiles and fashion. Recently while trend shopping, we noted another motif prevalent in just about every boutique and showroom we walked into, from the tonier sides of Melrose and La Brea, to the more crafty handmade wares in Echo Park and Silver Lake: that fun guy, the mushroom.

Our favourite product inspired by the mushroom is less toadstool and more about modern new school in form and finish. Although most go the route of kitsch or with a looser, classical illustrative rendition of the fungal form, Hayon Studio has a different take on the mushroom form with the porcelain body Funghi table lamps collection. Sleek, shiny, and delicious looking, Madrid designer Jaime Hayon is on our short list of designers who never fail to surprise us with his reinterpretations of common forms into something much more ornately wonderful.
