This weekend while trying to throw together a last minute Halloween costume at Los Feliz tchotchke dealer Wacko, we happened upon these watch battery-powered faux candle lights. We've got a couple of small hanging globes that we've always thought would make for a great spot for tea lamps, but balked out of fear of staining the glass with smoke because of the enclosed shape (and of course, they'd be perfectly suited for a jack 'o lantern). Plus with two felines, one has to play Smokey the Bear and always keep an eye out for possible fire hazards. So these mock "Safe-T Candles", complete with flickering action, are a viable option to set the mood without the dangers of burning down the house. The manufacturer claims a 20-hour life with 2 A76 batteries (two extra replacements are included). Best of all, you turn off the candles by blowing them out like the real thing.
