This weekend, we're planning to visit the Rosebowl Flea Market. One of the booths we'll visit belongs to Long Beach store Xcape. Full of fabulous mid-century finds, it was one of the resources used by set decorator Amy Wells in furnishing the "Mad Men" set. And, considering the theme for this month, it's got the perfect name. It's also got a great, and frequently updated, online store. After the jump, some recent offerings...

yay! i live right near there. although the store near it, the vintage collective, is far better and more affordable.

Isn't the store called Xcape?

Laura is right about the name, it's Xcape. I met the guys at Rosebowl last month, they had neat stuff at pretty good prices. They were actually at space #V18.

I highly recommend anyone looking for MCM visit 4th street. There are several stores that carry the same period at MUCH lower prices. Hollywood appears to have gone to this store's head.

Obvilously some of you are not aware that designer pieces are highly sought after.I have personally dealt with these guys and find their prices rather reasonable

I will say they are reasonable for what they have, but that does not mean its cheap! They have beautiful iconic mid-century furniture in great condition. The whole 4th street area has some really great finds, better than LA, I think. Vintage Collective is also good, as well as Ruum. The guy who owns Ruum also is very active on CL and eBay and gets AMAZING stuff ... I don't know where he finds it, but but its always very choice and in amazing condition. Only things I would avoid on 4th st are the clothing shops, which are a bit too pricey for what you can find in LA or any flea market for that matter.
