The hangings, made of a lightweight material, are meant to be hung outside over a door to bring in good luck and ward off evil spirits (perfect for warding off Halloween tricks!). Don't have a fireplace? Hang them over an inner doorway, atop a bookshelf, use them over your bed or to change the look of plain curtains. Find them here
So ugly!

The top one are made in the Indian state of Gujurat, where they are typical window and wall decorations. They have nothing, at all, to do with Tibet. These are really cheap commercial versions - antique ones are MUCH prettier!
The bottom ones are Nepali tourist art.

I've seen some Indian versions of these from Overstock.com's Worldstock, just as pretty, for a bit less $$.

not ugly but they are for sure not Tibetan. They do look Indian for sure.
The tibetan wall hangings we saw in Lhasa were all huge pieces of textiles that cover entire door ways and act as doors. And we saw more blues and greens in Tibet than purples.
As for the second one...not tibetan either...probably a cheap chinese repro of what they think a Tibetan wall hanging should look like ...
