After nerding out for most of Friday at this year's San Diego Comic Con, we made way for an early supper around the corner; weaving through battalions of stormtroopers, wizards, super heroes and waiting to take photos with former cast members of sci-fi shows (ahem...not me, but my nerdier and better half!) takes a lot out of you. While trying to find a spot to rest our sore feet and fill our empty stomachs, we saw these unusual dining pods at Aussie restaurant, Bondi Bar and Kitchen from across the way. We were told that these pods were modeled after traditional Aboriginal-style fishing traps, an interesting contrast to the otherwise modern-sleek interior. I'd love one of these for a backyard siesta spot. That is, if I had a backyard. Pretty keen nonetheless.

I passed by the same restaurant, but instead thought of bird cages instead of fishing traps.

Hilarious! I sat in these very pods this weekend and was thinking what a beautiful design solution to seating and booth privacy.
Not to mention it's the only bar I've found in the states with that many Ozzy beers on tap! Loved it!!!

A trip to their website under the Public Bar heading taught me that the weird things suspended from the ceiling are part of a sea anemone inspired glass chandelier.

Nice...I know where to go for lunch this weekend. Plus, the town should be quiet.
I was just looking at the Pottery Barn fish cage lamps that were posted here. Maybe the restaurant will inspire me more.
