Look: Emu Egg Pendant Lights
Melbourne

230908-Bonasera-01.jpgWe first noticed Gregory Bonasera’s work at the Melbourne Design:Made:Trade exhibit back in July. We were quite taken with his ceramics but only really noticed the lighting after revisiting his website. These delicate pendant lights are reproductions of ostrich and emu eggs made from fine translucent porcelain and lit from the inside.

Our pick would be the blue rimmed pendants. They’re fragile look is part of the appeal, but you’d want to hang them high to avoid any collisions. He also makes the slightly creepy looking ‘Willow luminare’ which features little reproductions of eucalyptus twigs. Availability wise, these are unfortunately a mostly local affair. But Gregory is exhibiting at the London, Tokyo and Bangkok design festivals this year so maybe his stockist list will grow.
