Look! Wooden Mobiles at Tortoise

062408_mobile.jpgWe normally associate mobiles with babies and kids, but the fantastic mobiles made by Japanese Artist Shigeki Fujishiro on display at Tortoise are anything but:

These mobiles were so elegant and grown up that we could imagine having some in a bedroom, their soothing colors and dancing movement would lull us to sleep, or even for fun in the kitchen, the morning sun playing with the moving shapes and casting shadows on the wall. Maybe we can make some ourselves...

Do you have mobiles at home? Do you take the time to watch it move?

See these at the new Tortoise. They range in price from $300-$1,500.

I am building something similar to hang above my bed. Inspired by the Kanye West show I saw a couple of weeks ago, mine are triangular and built from lightweight balsa wood. Similar to these - http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3185/2565826098_34cd45ee10.jpg

I love mobiles. I don't have any though. I did when I was a kid.
