2008 VIP Asia Award: CONCEPT40 Kitchen

061908concept40-01.jpgWe love the idea of having a particular space to store everything away, whether it be in the closet or the kitchen. So although we're not exactly in love with the cafeteria of the future aesthetics of the CONCEPT40 kitchen from Korea, we do like the wall of compartment storage units that forgo the typical cabinet design....

061908concept40-04.jpgThe kitchen incorporates up to "10 products on the shelf", which we're assuming means the amount of home appliances integrated into the whole unit, since we see more than 10 panel doors. More details at this translated page, via AVING.net.

I love the clean lines but you're right.. it doesn't really feel like a kitchen you want to hang out in with your friends. Looks more like an office kitchen or something like that. But great concept.

Very cool to look at -- but poorly thought out. When you have that first door up to have additional counterspace and access the outlets, you are blocking the next cabinet up -- which is typically the most heavily utilized. It would be smarter if the door went up and in -- out of the way!

Good point Mid-C Frank. I didn't even think of that. I was more concerned with the distance you have to reach to even get to the upper cabinets. It looks like you have to lean over two feet to get to them.

Also, sinks with square corners are the stupidest things ever, aren't they? Totally hard to clean.

Um, that's the Concept 40 kitchen from Leicht, a German manufacturer. I don't think they've been bought by the Koreans...

Here's even an English page at Leicht.de for you (though the video is in German):

Well it would be great for my diet. It looks sterile and not at all conducive to food preparation.
