4 Oversized Items That Enhance The Entryway

If asked, our signature decor "move" would be to always add an oversized piece of furniture to a room. Oversized decor is a cinch to find (especially when you're shopping vintage)--not to mention, incorporating oversized furniture lends a huge helping hand to small spaces. Take for instance, the entryway...

An entryway is often the first zone you see when you walk into the home--so why not jazz the area up a bit with oversized decor. Some items we like to use are:

  • A Vase An oversized vase has an Alice in Wonderland vibe. Plus, you'll always love bringing home flowers to display in the entryway (which you'll see first thing when you return home).
  • Artwork Oftentimes, homeowners and guests zoom past the entryway without stopping to take notice. An oversized piece of art is sure to make folks stop in their tracks (which will make you want to keep this area neat and tidy).
  • A Lamp To us, nothing reads cozy more than an entryway lamp. An oversized lampshade will help bring warmth to the small entryway space.
  • A Mirror We love placing a mirror in the entryway to help save precious time. Instead of running to the bathroom to check our appearance before we leave the house, all we have to do is take a peek in the entryway mirror. In addition, an oversized mirror will reflect light and open up the small space which gives the impression of extra square footage.

Love this concept. I have two huge mirrors in our entryway and I think they make quite a statement.

Currently searching for two large pieces of art for the dining room...

The entryway to your home is vital to good flow of chi (energy) EXACTLY because it is "the first thing you see". What we see when we enter a space affects our mood and our perception. It either lifts our spirits/ chi or it blocks it. All of the suggestions here are good ones for giving positive feng shui to your entryway.

It's almost impossible to go wrong with a giant mirror. Especially love it paired with that vase, in the first picture.

The first thing I see in my entry way is my dog and cat. Nothing better than that, as far as I'm concerned!
