"In this house,” she says simply, “we’re able to live in the moment and in the midst of all of the things that are so wonderful about our family.”
We just returned from a weekend in Asheville, NC where we attended a beautiful wedding ceremony on a farm. In between the rehearsal dinner and the wedding ceremony, we squeezed in a few hours to check out the main drag. Asheville's quaint and friendly town is due in large part to its appreciation of tradition mixed with modern taste, resulting in unique shops, restaurants, and homes that are full of personality. For a great example, here's Christie Rogers' 1,500 sq ft home that was designed by her father on the Elk Mountain and featured in Asheville's own WNC magazine. A few more shots after the jump...

that is such a lovely and alive place.

I love this!
I'm really into cabins, farm houses and mid century pieces, and you pull it all off really well.

I was in Asheville October 8th - 12th and had a great time. We went for a concert and to house/dog sit for a friend. Who knew there was such great FOOD in Asheville? Every single restaurant we went to used some amount of local eggs, milk, meat, cheese, jam, bread- it was unreal. And delicious vegetarian options? Everywhere. I found this to be such a great surprise. We went to one of the grocery stores (Greenlife) to get some grub for a barbecue and walked out with local spicy Italian, roasted red pepper, sweet maple and basil herb sausages. In the beer/wine section they were selling growlers of locally brewed beer!!! My boyfriend and I just about fainted.
And then to burn off all of all of those calories, we drove up the Blue Ridge Parkway and enjoyed some killer hiking in the fresh fall colors.
I give Asheville an A.

Love it! It's rustic, yet mod. Playful, yet sophisticated. Abundant, yet uncluttered.
