An Urban Outdoor Space

061709_bDeck03.jpgNot sure why, but writing this post has been difficult. Even the post title sounds so boring, especially for such a great backyard! So how about something straightforward, and then we'll let the photos do all the talking: Here is an amazing outdoor space that uses its narrow dimensions and height to its advantage. It's like one big deck, but with allocated areas for plants (including a cut-out window in the back wall for growing daisies). In our mind, this is where we picture Gregory hosting some staggeringly hip cocktail party where he doesn't invite any of us and serves absinthe while listening to Bloc Party. Right? Right. Check out of some more photos after the jump...

Not sure why you would want the stairs that wide in an "urban" space. Its beautiful but personally I would want to maximize any outdoor space so I could host my tragically hip parties?....

hmmm...this was featured by Dwell a while back:

you did not mention the wood slat wall which hangs plants/herbs. I figure that this is probably the reason why the wall is on one plane, thus creating a wide set of stairs and more of a sense of openness between the two levels.

One possible reason for wide stairs is to use them as seating withioiut taking up more space with furniture.

Lovely yard!
