Anthropologie's Windows vs. The "334" Newspapers Bench

100208-anthro01.jpgThe Collective Unconsciousness, as coined by Carl Jung, is the "...reservoir of the experiences of our species." It explains why movies with similar plots come out at the same time, why everyone seems to suddenly have a yen for cobalt blue, purple and the "modern farm" aesthetic, and why printed material has been used in a similar way...

We noticed the windows of Anthropologie (their displays are a constant source of inspiration for us) in Beverly Hills and in Santa Monica this week. Today, wandering through the blogsphere, we came across the "334" Newspapers Bench, designed by Oscar Lhermitte (who, incidentally, if he is the man hiding behind the newspaper, looks as if he's been dressed by Anthropologie) to create awareness of the need for recycling and reuse. We love seeing the human race's mind meld in action; it's a small reminder that, as the Zen proverb goes, "we are none of us alone."
