Hmmm that's serene bordering on stark.

Until I reached my mid-30's my style was all about the maximum....very night club influenced interiors...the art on the walls was a mish mash of styles that were very music influenced....punk/mod/rave

I had a Leigh Bowery inspired kitchen...a bathroom full of little toys from around the world...

Stuff on top of stuff on top of stuff.....old LA Style magazines, Tons of thrift store nick nacks everywhere

Too many things on the wall....Clockwork Orange posters in the hallway!

Things that had no function taking up valuable space

It was like if Pee-Wee herman moved into Buckingham Palace and threw a wild party with the Sex Pistols playing in the living room.....that was good decor to me

But now I'm all about pared down living.....open spaces...clean lines...no clutter, good pieces of furniture that are stand out but are not too overbearing, and a great paint job in muted colours that are cool...but not trendy.

Everything of old has been severely edited and disposed of on ebay and craigslist.

I love it!

J'adore piles of books on the floor - I can't begin to communicate how much that speaks to me.

very lovely indeed. However, I think it's important to note that a pared down aesthetic really works when you have interiors with incredible detail--that wood floor, high ceilings, interesting window sills, molding etc. In many of the white box apartments with vinyl windows that comprise LA's housing stock this would look depressed or transitory. great bones make everything look good!

I love that first picture beautiful, except the feet! The mix scale and style of the furniture is great and love the art. I would take that bathroom too.

I was very much a minimalist in my 20's and 30's just classic modern pieces, one or two vintage Danish crystal pieces, modern art, white walls and all monochromatic.

Now in my 40's I have some color and more mixing it up but still somewhat spare . My place is more cottage style modern and less gallery like or Barcelona Pavilion and much more comfortable.

But I still like pairing it down and do like clutter or too many objects. I use the jewelry method- if I put on earrings, necklace, bracelet, ring and go look in the mirror and if I zero in on something it comes off, too much is not a good look for me. I do the same in my rooms, if I zero in on a piece not in a good way it goes away or moved elsewhere. I like rooms to breath.

Wait until the baby is a little older and there are toys everywhere. Looks great now though.

OK, look at the "bedroom" photo to the left. That eames chair looks REALLY small.

looks like they just moved in/had painted the walls and still iffy about driving a nail through them to hang the pictures. i can totally relate. hanging pictures on walls is a huge commitment, but at some point, we have to do it.

Love this apartment. That closet, especially, is to die for.

I do agree with zufrieden that great bones *make* minimal style, though – wish Art Deco places weren't so expensive!
