Bloom My Buddy Vase

atla-062608-bloom.jpgWe've blogged William Morris's credo before about having nothing in your home that you do know to be useful or believe to be beautiful. We'd like to add a codicil: "or that makes you smile or even, laugh out loud." We believe that in decorating, as in life, a sense of humour is definitely key. If your own home doesn't make you smile, then you might want to consider inviting Dutch designers Niels Van Eijk and Miriam Van Der Lubbe over...

Their Bloom Buddy Vase, the love child of a Chia Pet and an Ugli doll, is a vase with a sense of the ridiculous. How it looks is limited only by your imagination...and the flowers you have available.
Whether grasses...

...vines and flowers...

...or a bunch of cuttings and flowers.

How great would this be holding herbs in the kitchen?

I love this! But I can't figure out how you'd water or plant the thing.

AnnadyL,

it's actually composed of three chambers that fit together, each of which holds water so whichever hole you stick your stem through will assure that the cut end is in water. if you click on the "bloom buddy vase" link above, it'll take you to the website & you can click through & see the diagram.

cheers!

I am *so* in love with these that I went to the site to order one of each. And found that the grand total would be 1900 Euros... can this be right?! That's almost $3,000 for essentially a plastic vase.

I clicked through to purchase and have it as 105. If that's Euros, it's $158, for the small guy... still kind of a lot for a humorous piece.

Well that sounds a little more reasonable. Ok, I went back and checked and the little one is 95, but the large one is 1800! I wonder why the huge price jump between sizes...
