So, we're about two weeks late (St. Patty's Day) or a week too early with this post (Easter); but what the hell, it's spring! Instead of the usual parade of pastels, we went hunting for some examples of beautiful shades of green that are bold, vibrant, and even a little unexpected. (Also, we might have been motivated by Gregory's perpetual green boycott as the NBA playoffs are right around the corner)...Take a look at our picks after the jump...

Perhaps this is what Paul Pierce's bathroom looks like...?
Having recently flipped through the latest J.Crew catalogue, I'm inspired to label the colors here as "fern green" against a wallpaper of intricate leaf design in "mushroom brown" with cream accents and silver.
An example of "a lot of look": This contemporary shade of lime green (very popular over at CB2, yes?) sits alongside stodgy florals.
In a primarily all-white home, the saturated green of the tablecloth draws all the attention to the table.
Green and gold will always remind me of my high school alma mater, but this soft shade of spring green is the perfect companion to the warm tones of gold and woodgrain.

The first photo with the yellow-greens and blue greens - and multiple florals: Just awful - reminds me of the style-challenged guy in the office wearing green pants and a green shirt...
...the others are rather nice tho.

Beautiful. The colour I gravitate the most towards is green. In fact the majority of my house is various shades of green, created as a happy accident. It's a great flow.
Just not a fan of emerald green for the most part.

This post has made my morning. I love love love green, although I tend to lean more toward the yellow/green and earthy colored hues. And while, like Sophie, I am not a huge fan of emerald green, I'd rather sport an emerald ring over a diamond.

I like them all. Green with white is really fresh looking.

Sigh. This post makes me eat myself up. My husband and I are in a Mexican stand-off over shades of green in our living room. We've had sample swatches (about 6 shades worth) on all 4 walls for OVER A YEAR! My fave, with our not-gonna-be-painted chestnut floor and trim, is BenjMoore's "Golden Delicious" (a light yellowy-green with brown undertones).... but it's a no-go. I knew it was bad when he proposed we scratch the green idea and do purple. : ) Any advice on colors or, um, brainwashing hubby? The adjacent room is bright orange -- his choice, fwiw.

Have you considered taking the orange from the adjacent room and choosing a wall color for your living room that's a tone lighter?
By choosing colors for adjacent rooms that's are the same family, the entire home will have a more cohesive and spacious feel...
...but orange in one room and purple in another is going to make your place look as if it were painted by the Minnesota Vikings.

LOL, I never suspected, but perhaps MN Vikings is actually what my husband is shooting for!
I have indeed considered using a shade of orange for the living room, but have a strong suspicion that it's too much orange for me... the wood is a very warm midtown golden/orange brown, and I fear that the whole downstairs would just be too monochromatic/tone-on-tone for me. (and the other connecting room is a den with tan carpet and a russet red sofa, so still very much in the same tone family. I need a definite eye break from all the warm reds/oranges/browns, and hoped that an organic light green would do it. On a positive note, I'll admit that we're getting a bit attached to our patchwork green Rothko-esque living room walls. Thanks for your thoughts... I'll try reenvisioning some orange in the LR. Any other tips welcome, too. Have a good one!

I love the runner in the second to last picture, particularly that dark teal color of the flowers.

I've been loving green lately. I'm seriously thinking about repainting my kitchen wall green.

How timely! I was just thinking about green and how it goes well with gold, and black, and white, and brown...like that last photo.

So who designed the rooms? The photographers are credited, but where are the actual spaces located? The first one makes my eyes hurt, but I'd like to see more of the last place.

Anyone know where I can find that green chair? It's exactly what I need for my living room. Thanks!
