Color Combo: Grey, Black, and Lime Green

020409_stripesgreencolor.jpgEver since we recapped Penelope for an On The Set feature, we've had that...that...style on the brain. The closest thing we can come up with is "Neo Victorian Gothic" (and we totally stole that lingo from the behind-the-scenes featurette, OK?); and recently, we've ventured off to find some inspiration that exudes the same qualities as some of the sets in the film. Here's our latest find: Traditional striped wallpaper in charcoal greys and blacks is the backdrop to a show-stopping lime green tufted chaise...

The glossy black doors and trim give the room an updated gothic feel, and the traditional framing and placement of the old photographs (very Arbus-esque!) with a vintage crystal chandelier keep the formality of the space in tact. We can't get enough, so if anyone has any other resources, please please share it with us!

what is that beautiful amalgam of chaise, daybed and sofa?!?! It looks perfect for watching movies and playing video games. I would nap the crap outta that chaise. I want!

That chaise is gorgeous! I think something like that would work really well in a studio apartment where your bed has to be part of the seating area, and I'm just always a sucker for tufting.

Love it all except for the cowhide rug. It just doesn't work in this space.

I'm warming to this color combo... seeing a lot more of it, especially in bathroom schemes. Someone has done a fantastic job with this room. That chaise is quite a piece, and the wallpaper is a handsome compliment.

Alas, I feel compelled to dissent from the pro-chaise consensus on this one. The proportions are bizarre. That weird lump looks like a sofa tumor.

i don't know what to call that style either, but i've always liked it, so if someone has the right name for it i'd be happy to know (and if you like scandinavian, industrial, vintage schoolroom, and this neo victorian gothic, can you combine them? always the trouble...)

I love anything Victorian gothic. Nice to see it with a less fusty modern vibe.

Love it! I'm decorating my new living room with that same shade of green.
