Color Combo: Teal, White, and Navy

091508_tealdark.jpgSometimes, going bold is going too far...sort of like when we painted our bathroom in what we THOUGHT would be a strong chartreuse green and it ended up looking like we smeared avocado mush all over the walls. But after seeing this living room in House to Home, we're considering painting our bathroom in this beautiful shade of teal with pristine white accents and touches of navy...hmmm...maybe getting a shower curtain similar to those curtains too...

What brand and colour of paint is this? I love it and think it would look great in my dining room.

You know, I always love rooms in teal, aqua, turquoise and robin's egg blue in magazines. But I've never, in real life, seen a room that used them successfully. They always look awful. I suspect this color requires a lot of natural light to look good.

This is very similar to what I have in my bathroom and bedroom - I think Benjamin Moore calls it "Ocean Blue" (or something along those lines)

Natural light, huge baseboards, and super wide crown moulding make this color look good. Your average 8 foot ceiling with wimpy base and no crown with weak light would look terrible.

I have to disagree - I have 103" ceilings and zero mouldings and the color looks great. IMO, it's all about the contrast with the furnishings, fabrics, carpets and artwork.

I found a shower curtain in this scheme, well close. It was teal, navy and a hint of light green. I based the entire bathroom's color scheme on it. It was a cute look, but the shower curtain was cheap and got mildewy and I spilled bleach on one of the bathmats (good reason to switch to green cleaning products; I always get bleach where I don't want it!) so I decided to scrap the look when I moved.

I did get a lot of compliments on the color scheme, and I think it work even better if you could fully commit to it with paint and tile.

i think if you take your cues from this living room--blending modern with very traditional elements, the color combo will work. I love bold colors in small spaces as long as all the other fixtures and furniture it support the style the color conveys, ie--the Home to Home living room.

this isn't teal -- teal is a mix of blue and green. Here's the dictionary definition: "A moderate or dark bluish green to greenish blue".

This colour has no green in it; it is a Caribbean blue, or even an aqua.

my bedroom has a similar color scheme (with touches of beech/orange).
>>>I think this colour has some green in it (at least, the very similar shade we painted the bedroom with had green in it) but not enough to be defined teal.

This is very harmonious. A pleasure to look at. I wouldn't have this for myself but I throughly enjoy seeing someone being able to pull this off so well. Refreshing to see someone go for something very different in regs to colour on their walls.

Oh, I am so in love with this paint color! I can't wait to sell our house, move into the new one, and go to town with paint like this!

I have a friend who just painted her living room a similar color...I sent her this for decorating inspiration! I especially like the way the dark wood looks with this color.

I think the room need more white. The throw pillows, curtain pattern and carpet color is distracting IMHO.
