After a nice long weekend camping I have visions of month long excursions to Yellowstone, camping in different parts of the park and just soaking up all that outdoors (it's been a long winter, can you tell?). Of course in those circumstances I had envisioned some kind of a camper to help with some conveniences. But normal campers and trailers are gas guzzlers and call to mind National Lampoon Vacations and lots of...beige. So I was excited to read about a new concept for a trailer that offers a huge space in a tiny package:
The Mobile Mini House is designed to expand like a fan once parked. It offers a bedroom, living room, bathroom, kitchen and an office all divided by smart partitions that are opened up by sliding them along rails. And if the picture is accurate, it looks like it isn't designed to weigh much and could be towed by a car as small as a mini (how fitting!). A screen stretches across it for privacy and to help keep things in place. Of course, it's overkill for any kind of real camping experience when you want to just rough it (which I do) but it's a great concept for mobile living when you need some comforts of home and aren't just looking to get away from it all.

If you like the concept of open air camping, this kind of defeats purpose. if you like the concept of tented closed camping, this is way too open.

I love camping, and I like the theory, but then I picture rain and wind and bird crap and pervs. And the idea of a screen doesn't comfort me - how do you efficiently fit it over the thing, anyway? I can't even do a tarp.
I am so happy to see this in singular, first person narrative, though.

I could be wrong but it looks like there is a roof/wall covering they just left it open for the sake of the picture (you can see it partially pulled over on the yellow end piece). Unless I'm mistaken...
