Dark Forest by Natasha Newton

070208_woods.jpgRemember when that Cole & Sons Woods wallpaper was everywhere? Here's something similar, except in a painting: UK artist Natasha Newton's Dark Forest takes center stage in her dining room, and we love how peaceful and evocative it is. Here's hoping that she'll make prints of this painting soon!

Check out more of her work on her site.

My boyfriend has a Marüska print that looks similar to this. He bought it in the 70s at Kmart when he was 12 years old.

evocative - tending to evoke; the power to provoke a strong emotional response.

peaceful - calm, tranquil, at rest.

not usually used together in art/commentary

while this painting may be evocative OF something (winter? solitude?), it is not evocative.

Hey this reminds me of my cool Andrea Rand area rug from IKEA. It is brown and green. I get tons of compliments on it. http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/00107398

That is a look I should be striving for, simple and warm and comforting. Not too over-stimulating.

But I don't know how to get there from here, I have so much clutter. And I have a lot of things right now that were my mum's, after she died some came to me.

They aren't at all like this image.

But that kind of very sturdy furniture is what I need. Things that can hold up to cat abuse. Ha! Nothing too delicate. And I guess no more clutter.

So I saved that image above and bookmarked her site. No, I won't be getting an original anytime soon, but I can still get ideas.

Thanks, Grace.
