apartment therapy changing the world, one room at a time

Domestic Landscapes by Bert Teunisse

We pride ourselves here at Apartment Therapy for the international flavor of our house tours, whether they're from Sweden, India, Australia or Japan, there's always inspiration to be found…

But when we happened upon Domestic Landscapes, a collection from photographer Bert Teunissen, we found ourselves to be a bit humbled by the excellence and intimacy of the series of photos taken within the homes of families and individuals from all over the globe. The honesty of the images hailing from all over Europe and Japan feels less like a tour and more like a personal invitation by the occupants into their domicile, as if you were a friend or family being welcomed in for a cup of tea or supper.

Despite the mostly humble nature of the interiors of everyday people, there's a tangible sense of neighborly warmth that comes through these photos showing occupant(s) within the space they call home. To see how the rest of the world lives can put into perspective how we live, and for that alone, Domestic Landscapes is a fascinating tour to take (alongside some eye catching interior colour schemes).

We highly recommend to check out the rest of Bert Tenussen's Domestic Landscapes here.

Wonderful. I love that most of the photos -- at least of the ones I've viewed so far -- are taken in kitchens. So warm and welcoming. And, in many cases, humbling. And, as noted, some great colors!

Awesome post. Given all the interest in taxidermy, etc..., this photograph from Germany cracked me up.

That's hilarious solop! It's like he's saying..."look at all the pesky rodents I've killed!" Too funny!
