Yeah, we're that nerdy that we found pleasure after noticing the Democratic candidates and hosts/interviewers were seated upon some sweet looking white leather Eames Aluminum Group Management chairs during last night's Democratic Debates in Austin. Kudos to the person who chose the seating. We think the next debate should be done while all participating are sitting in these.

I think they should all sit on beanbag chairs so we can see how they react.

It's a nice chair and all but it really is no big deal when this chair is spotted, it can be spotted just about anywhere on TV and off. This chair is quite common.

They look like Eames knock offs to me.

SFGail: the beanbag setup would be appropriate for the Kucinich crowd (with all due respect to him).
orangejuice: movies/TV shows yes (print ads would be where I've seen them most). But political debates, not often...and in white no less!
Laura: I was wondering the same thing. I've been looking especially at the back trying to determine whether they were knockoffs or the real deal.

I was waiting for one of them to pick their chair up and crack the other over their head.

I noticed them last night as well and the reason I did was it's the exact same chair (but in white) that I have in my office.
And yes, it's a knock-off though a pretty well made one.

Ha! I noticed that too! I LOVE that there's a full-blown post for this. Well, I guess they are an american icon, or a knock off of an american icon. Either way...nice choice.

Yeah, I don't know. Here we were debating jobs being shipped to China and what do we have...a Chinese knock off!
Herman Miller products are made in the US(of)A, are Greenguard Certified, and don't have that hideously-huge knock-off pivot (I am the only one who refuses to tolerate that!).
Didn't seem like a very patriotic decision to me.

And that's the Management Chair, not the Executive Chair....sheesh.

colin: you're completely correct...in the rush to find an image and post, I also incorrectly put down "Executive" instead of the correct "Management" model. Thanks for keen eye and the correction.

here's the exact, but genuine, match of the White Leather Management Chair:

Available at DWR (among other places) for around 2k. And yes, that's a lot of money.
