First Look: Kylie At Home

We got an email earlier today from a friend in London: "Have you seen Kylie Minogue's new home line?!" At first, we were confused. Isn't Kylie Minogue famous for being unable to get us out of her head while shaking her bum in a dress the size of a shiny kleenex? When did she become a designer of luxury bedding? Apparently, over the weekend!

We picked up Woman & Home magazine to get a sneak peek at what Miss Minogue is trying to sell us...and guess what? She's designed a line of bedding that's been literally bedazzled! Sequins pillows match sequins trim on the duvet covers. Even the zebra print is shiny. Here's a quote from the interview about the inspiration behind her line:

"Travels and vintage finds, mainly. I was totally hands-on with the design. I invited the design team to my home and walked and talked them through some of my favourite design and furnishing elements of my place. I collated a lot of photo references of all kinds of things, including a lot of fashion."

What do you think?

P.S. Speaking of celebrity designers--has anyone seen those ads of Cindy Crawford showing off her furniture line of Wickes Furniture? We haven't seen them in person...and we're kind of scared...

Love her music, and this look totally works in the videos, but for the home I think it's sort of tacky.

Okay... I'll try to be positive... she designs home furnishings just as well as she sings!

im amazed at how everybody actually BELIEVES that this ppl DESIGN their "own" lines.
most of them have other ppl designing for them and they just put their name on it.
like mr calvin k.. has a troup of designer that work for him and he just put his name...please!

Right, but you can't say that she isn't approving this shit in some way. Most celebrities are just figure heads for a large team of people, true. However, she ultimately put her hancock on this crap.
Love you Kylie! I do! In My Arms is awesome.

Someone paid her money to put her name on this. I bet she could care less what it looks like as long as the check clears.

regardless of what part she plays in the creative aspects, I'd say whoever did design the products did capture her persona as presented in her music and performance. However, the good news is the bad news.

Didn't Pricilla Presley have a bedding range too? Whatever happened to that?

Hilarious... appropriate... scary...

We need at AT parlor game in which we collectively design housewares to extend the brands of various celebrities... something like AT Chicago's Google theme, maybe...

I love Kylie, but I would have liked it if the collection matched her energy, spunk and style a little more. I would have liked to see fuschia, red and cream, and less black and white - and maybe some more innovative prints rather than just zebra print.
