Drats, thanks to a bit of a "shakeup" here at AT this morning (technical difficulties, folks), we weren't able to post about this very important event that happened this morning. The Great Southern California ShakeOut Drill was the largest earthquake preparedness activity in U.S. history, an important reminder for us Angelenos, whether you're a renter or owner. The last earthquake here was minor, but the next one might be more serious, so get prepared with an free earthquake consultation, discounted earthquake insurance policy, and an emergency kit (we have several throughout our small house and in the car).

On the earthquake insurance link you can get a free preparedness packet that along with information, includes QuakeHold (the museum putty that holds down objects) and a furniture strap to strap tall furniture like an armoire or a bookcase to the wall.
Thanks for the link!
It also looks like earthquake insurance for my house would cost just about 2/3 what I pay for regular homeowner's insurance. I knew it was expensive, but I may just bite the bullet and do it.
